I’ve been lucky in love (I married my husband when we were still in our teens after only knowing him for five months. A recipe for disaster, right? Well, we’ve made it through a kazillion years of marriage and we’re still together.

Some would say I followed in the footsteps of my parents. They also married in their teens and were married for over fifty years.

St. Patrick’s Day is a bittersweet celebration for me. My father, a Scotsman through and through, was born on St. Paddy’s Day. So his birthday was a double celebration, complete with birthday cake and gifts, his green suspenders, green hat, shelalagh and Irish music <sp?> Can you tell my father liked to party? 🙂 I miss him every single day, but on Sunday, I’ll raise a glass of green beer to him and wish him a Happy Birthday and Top ‘o the Morning.

Because when it all comes down to it, if he and my mother hadn’t been lucky in love, I wouldn’t be here.

  9. Aww, the story of your father is so sweet. Also the marriage of both your parents and you and your husband! Very lucky indeed all around. Too cute! I love the tribute as well, makes my eyes just well right up with tears!

    The book sounds like it is a very good one and the second as if it will be great as well when it’s ready. I’ve not read it, but I will add them both to my to read list!

    I don’t know that I would say I’m lucky in love or not. Well, maybe it’s better to say I’ve not always been lucky in love. I’ve been lucky at times and unlucky at other times. Married once when very young, divorced once, remarried someone else later and now still happily (most of the time :P) married so I would say right now I feel lucky in love.

  23. What a great giveaway hop! I have yet to be lucky in love but I’m working on it. My favorite love book is “Outlander” by Diana Gabaldon. Jamie Fraser is amazing and beautiful. I enjoy St. Patty’s Day and this year I’m spending it with my best friend. We’re going to two Irish Pubs and also some dance clubs. I am also wearing green and am not a fan of getting pinched. I’m not Irish either, but many people think I am because my hair is red, my eyes green and my name is Meghan, but I’m not at all. I won’t be telling anybody that, however… let them believe I’m Irish.
