Happy 146th birthday, Canada.

It’s a holiday here, complete with parades, fireworks, and other celebrations all over the country. I’ll be watching fireworks over the lake tonight, but I thought that since it’s a national holiday, I’d show you a couple of photos of national icons.

I took this photo twenty years ago, the last time I was in Ottawa, our capital city. The buildings may not be as old as those in Europe, but our Parliament Buildings are still pretty impressive, in my opinion.

This photo is probably about thirty years old (yes, it’s pretty grainy), but is there anywhere in the world, the scarlet coats of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police aren’t recognized?
